Khnuma Simmonds-Esannason is the Executive Director of the V.I. Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Council (DVSAC), Owner of My Girlfriend’s Closet St. Croix Boutique, Founder of SoKh Caribbean Dance Fitness & Mother of a four year old, Taino. She has worked in the family violence prevention field for almost five years and has been passionately active in addressing social justice issues in the Virgin Islands community from the age of 12. In addition to her work with DVSAC, Khnuma has served as a peer reviewer for the Office on Violence Against Women and the Department of Health and Human Services and she has also presented for the 2015 & 2016 National Sexual Assault Conference. She is involved with community organizations to include but not limited to the American Counseling Association Chapter of the Virgin Islands (Officer), St. Croix Child Abuse and Neglect Task Force (Member), and the St. Croix Chamber of Commerce (Business Member). She holds a B.A. in Communications from Hofstra University, an M.A. in Education Guidance & Counseling from the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Croix and is currently a doctoral student at Capella University where she is pursuing Advanced Studies in Human Behavior. When she is not working, she enjoys therapeutic activities such as volunteering with the Caribbean Community Theater and spending quality time, creating new memories with her family and friends.
